3G rules next semester, seminar placements and policymaking placements

Von: FB 03 - Studienbüro

Dear MIEPP Students,

In Germany we say (very loosely translated) whoever says a also has to say b. So, since I Asked you to send me your seminar preferences, today Becomes the day where you receive the seminar placements (sorry for the incredibly bad pun). I also have for you:

-          3G rules next semester

-          Seminar placements (already said that)

-          Political science course

-          KfW Job

First of all, I want to talk to you about the plans for next semester. I am well aware that I started the email of on a different foot but this topic is very important and I do not want you to simply look at the seminars and stop reading.

The plan for the coming winter semester as of right now is that most courses (or at least a good portion) will be face-to-face classical lectures. So far so good, I am assuming many of you were looking forward to this. However, in order to make the lectures happen, the university administration has decided to apply the so-called 3G rules to university lectures. This means that you can only attend lectures if you are one of three things:

-          You have recovered from Covid and are healthy again

-          You are vaccinated

-          You have an official covid test that is no older than 24 hours

(in German all three points start with a g thus the very creative name 3G rules)

The reason I am telling you this is that the university has announced that they will enforce these rules via outside contractor and because some of you may not be aware that official Covid tests will in all likelihood not be free of charge come October. Therefore, this serves as a heads up to all of you to be informed what you need to do in order to attend classes in the coming semester.

On a much lighter note, here are the seminar placements for the winter semester:

I apologize for this monstrosity of a newsletter, especially during your semester break. I was tempted to put another bad pun here but I thought why punish the few people still reading. Enjoy the rest of your semester break before the next semester starts and you get these newsletters more regularly again.

Sincerely,

Christoph Wirp
