Dear students,
the Corona pandemic is a source of concern for all of us, and I hope that you are coping well with all the worries and challenges we are facing during these turbulent times.
As you probably know, the official start of lectures in the summer semester 2020 has been shifted to April 20, 2020. Moreover, standard classroom teaching will be restricted for most of this semester. As a consequence, we are currently undertaking great efforts to move MIEPP teaching online. Fortunately, JGU Mainz offers an infrastructure that makes it possible to use presentations, videos, and other channels to convey the relevant contents of courses.
At the very end of this message, you will find a list of links that provide information on courses offered in the summer semester 2020 and beyond. Moreover, the first two links present the two MIEPP specialization areas International Economics and Public Policy. We encourage you to use this information in order to select your lectures for this semester. If no link is given for a course you are interested in, we encourage you to check out the respective faculty member’s website, or contact her/him directly.
As far as seminars (“research modules”) are concerned, faculty members will directly get in touch with you.
We also invite you to join the traditional “Welcome Words” event, which will take place as a ZOOM web conference on April 14, 2020 at 2.15 pm. While the main goal of this event is to welcome new students, it will also be nice to see each other again – at least virtually.
Here is the information you will need to participate in the ZOOM meeting:
Theme: MIEPP SuSe 2020: Welcome Words Faculty
Time: 14.Apr.2020 02:15 PM
Link: https://zoom.us/j/287888431?pwd=L0xXVytUcEhXbTYybjM4a2ZEZnZQQT09
Meeting-ID: 287 888 431
Passwort: 516358
Note that you will have to download the (free) ZOOM client app to participate. Note also that participation in this meeting is voluntary, and that we will not use it to present the courses taught in the summer semester 2020.
I hope that all this works out. These are certainly difficult times, but let’s make the best of it.
Best wishes – and: stay healthy!
