Exam Registration, Master Colloquia and Jobs

Von: FB 03 - Studienbüro

Dear MIEPP students,

I hope everything is still going well for you guys and according to your emails my absence has not affected you much at all (luckily). Alas, as the last newsletter was a while ago, this one will be a bit longer.

Here is what is hot this week:

-          Exam Registration

-          Colloquia

-          Job openings

First of all, I hope everyone has noticed that it is exam registration time. Exam Registration is still open until Monday June 18, 1 pm. If you have not registered by then you will not be able to write the exam, so please go do it ASAP.

Here are some useful pointers for the exam registration process:

The Main Exams: Since you can decide for yourself if you comprehend the exam relevant material, you can decide your first examination date and are required to register for exams yourself via Jogustine. The registration for an exam is only possible if you have previously registered properly for the respective modules and courses and have also submitted the form of application for admission to the Master’s examination in International Economics and Public Policy.   The exam registration is only possible within the period mentioned above. The Registrar’s Office will not offer any subsequent registration once the registration period is over. Students who fail to meet the deadline must wait until the next main exam registration period. Additionally, you will not be able to register for any repeat exam if you have not registered for the main exams before.   Note that a subsequent registration through the Study Office is not possible, even if you submit a medical certificate, which confirms that you were ill during the registration period. Despite illness, you should be able to register for the exams since this can be done online from anywhere. In case of technical problems during the registration via Jogustine, please immediately contact the Jogustine-Hotline or the Registrar’s Office within the registration period. Please check within the deadline whether your registration has been successfully completed. If this is not the case, try again or contact us immediately.   The Repeat Exams: As mentioned above, you will not be allowed to register for any repeat exam if you have not registered for the respective main exam, i.e. only students who have failed the main exam are allowed to participate in the respective repeat exam. If you have missed an exam due to illness and were exempt by a doctor’s note, you will be automatically registered for the next exam by the Study Office. You are not required to do anything. (you can find the guidelines regarding illness attached to this email) As a student of the master program, if you simply failed and were not sick, you are, free to decide whether you go through the repeat exam now or wait until the next repeat exam’s date (one semester or even one year). You will thus not be automatically registered for the next exam. The registration period for the repeat exams starts 14 days prior to the repeat exam’s date and ends 7 days prior to the repeat exam’s date (The registration period for the repeat exams is just one week).

Next, the chair of professor Harms (International Economics) is holding masters colloquia On Wednesday, June 20.

The following research colloquia will take place in the room “Software-Labor (01-115)”, Recht und Wirtschaft II (old ReWi):

Finally, there are several job openings that the professors and former students asked me to share with you:

The first one is a Werkstudenten job at the KfW: https://kfw-jobs.de/index.php?ac=jobad&id=2225&curPage=1

The second is from the Sachverständigenrat (German Economic Advisory Council), which is attached to this email.

I hope you did not forget to sign up for your exams over all of these exciting job openings. In case you did, here is an extra (and free) reminder. I hope you have a great week (and maybe some fun at the ASTA Summer Fest).

Sincerely,

Christoph Wirp
